All-Party Parliamentary Group on Connected and Automated Mobility

The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Connected and Automated Mobility (CAM) is a cross-party group of MPs and Peers that provides a forum for parliamentarians, industry leaders and academia to discuss how to promote and support self-driving technologies’ safe and effective deployment across the UK.

About

The CAM APPG has been established with support from AXA UK and Burges Salmon to ensure that the UK continues the pioneering work of industry and Government in researching and developing connected and automated mobility.

The Group will bring together industry, academia, tech experts and policymakers to identify and promote the next steps towards ensuring the UK is a world leader in CAM and securing the safe deployment of the technology on UK roads. Key areas of focus for the APPG will include investment, regulation, consumer education, data and cyber security.

Ben Everitt is the elected Member of Parliament for Milton Keynes North, an area of the UK synonymous with the trialling and development of new transport innovations from Connected and Automated Mobility to e-scooters. Since his election in 2019, Ben has been a strong advocate for the UK fulfilling its potential as a hub for technological innovation, in particular to develop a thriving, world-leading CAM sector.

Robert Goodwill has been the elected MP for Scarborough and Whitby since 2005. During his time in Parliament, Robert has been strongly involved in the transport sector, first as a Member of the Transport Select Committee and then as a Minister at the Department for Transport.

AXA has been involved in the automated vehicles space since 2014, recognising the positive societal impact this new technology could have by creating safer, cleaner, efficient and more accessible roads. Since then, AXA has been partners of five UK government-funded CAM projects: VENTURER, FLOURISH, UK Autodrive, Capri and Robopilot where we provide advice and expertise on road safety, insurance provision, regulation and data. AXA is also proud to have worked with Government to shape the Automated and Electric Vehicles Act 2018, which ensures a smooth transition for consumers with the creation of a single insurance model.
